Rose pink lemonade

Rose pink lemonade
Reading Time: 2 minutes

A while ago I got some dried flowers to make this candle DIY and I ended up with tons leftover, so I had to find something to use them up. In my efforts to create recipes to use dried roses I came up with this homemade rose pink lemonade, which I was inspired to do by Fentimans Rose Lemonade which I have only been able to find in a handful of places in Berlin. My homemade result is a very fresh and slightly tangy version of it, but the combination of sweet and acid is really good and refreshing. But my new creations don’t end here, soon I will also be sharing a no-bake cake which will also require using dried flowers. I hope you are as excited as I am!

I already shared a syrup based recipe in the spring, and I was really happy when you guys told me how much you liked my Lavender and Rosemary Prosecco! Hopefully you’ll like this one just as much, if not more.

First we’ll start by making the rose syrup, that will later be added to the lemonade.

  • 100g dried roses
  • 100g sugar
  • 250ml water
  • optional: a few drops of red food colouring
  1. Pour the sugar and water in a pot to boil.
  2. Once it breaks to a boil, lower the heat and allow to simmer for about 10 minutes.
  3. Pour the syrup into a container and add the roses. Let sit overnight.
  4. The next day, drain the roses out of the syrup and add a few drops of red food colouring if you like.

And the following is enough to make 1l of this delicious rose pink lemonade:

  • 4 big juicy lemons
  • 800ml water
  • previously prepared syrup
  1. Juice the lemons.
  2. Pour the water and the lemon into a jug, and add the entire rose syrup (you should have about 200ml). Serve cold.

BONUS TIPS:

  • you can also add sparkling water if you like it fizzy!
  • feel free to add some oranges if you like your lemonade less acidic
  • you can also use edible fresh rose petals. It’s only a matter of preference and availability, it won’t make a difference in the end result
